About Us

Butcher Block on the Prairie, is owned and operated by the Eastmond Family.

Albert immigrated from England and homesteaded in the grasslands around Mortlach in 1908. Each generation since has expanded and added to the family farming operation, with the 5th generation of young rancher’s navigating the ropes and love for the ranch life. In August 2021 the family purchased the local abattoir at Chaplin, and launched the Butcher Block on the Prairies, a full custom cutting, retail and wholesale meat business.

Our promise is to provide every one of our customers with the highest quality meat products available combined with unparalleled customer service. We are proud to provide full retail custom cutting and wrapping to local producers, allowing us to maximize steak cuts and provide the highest quality of cuts with the least amount of waste.

Our Priority

Our priority is to source our meats from local producers to ensure the highest quality possible. We make a conscious effort to purchase ranch raised and sustainable beef, bison, pork, chicken and lamb to give our customers a fresh and local selection of products. If a customer has specific requests (such as grass fed beef), we can source that meat directly from one of our suppliers. All of our valued added meat products are 100% gluten free, with the exception of our Old Country sausage and Seasoned Burger Patties. We have a unique traceability system with all of our in house products being able to be traced back to the farm of origin.
